(PLANO, TX) Financial Advisor Monem Salam’s endeavor to become a pilot is beautifully captured in the documentary “On A Wing And A Prayer”. One of the screenings took place at the public library in Plano on Independence Parkway. Following in his father’s footsteps Monem was eager to learn to fly. The events of September 11th made him even more ambitious and serious about getting his pilot’s license. Approximately 100 people attended the screening in Plano. The fun and light atmosphere in the movie kept everyone glued to the story. The documentary paints a great picture of everyday lives of Muslims in the U.S. Job, family, vacation and shopping. It also presented the openness and assistance that non-Muslim Americans provide to their Muslim neighbors despite negative media coverage. The audience loved the movie. Speaking to the viewers after the movie, Monem’s mother, Mrs. Shaheen Salam answered questions from the audience. Citing some of the negative and hateful comments from the readers of the local paper in Bellingham, she “I worry about his safety and his family since now people knows who they are.” WATCH VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS HERE
