If you are a young person reading this article or a parent I assume you want to improve your study habits. In high school I had poor study habits but now that I am in college and boast nearly a 4.0 GPA therfore I feel I am qualified to speak on this subject. Let me tell all of you that the first thing you can do to better your study habits is to make a commitment to yourself and your future and perform up to your abilities. In today's society it is virtually impossible to get where you want to go without a solid education. Now that you have realized this I would like to offer you three suggestions I beleive will help you or your child's study habits. 1. Make a commitment to organization. This may be the most important aspect of poor study habits; the lack of organization that most students possess. Create notebooks for specific subjects and three hole punch all assignments. This ensures that if you need to refer back to anything you can easily find your notes. 2. Set aside a specific time everyday to study. Treat school as a job. Think of it in the sense that if you do not acheive an A in a certain class you will be fired. This sense of urgency allows people to channel all of their intelligence and will to succeed. 3. While in class, pay attention and try to sit in the front two rows. I know this seems weird but it absolutely works. Also do not write down everything your professor or teacher says. Focus on the key points of the lecture and write down what they repeat. If the teacher repeats it, you can guarantee it is going to show up on an exam.
