One of the more 'pro-Europe' nations in Europe is Ireland.
Let us thank God that the Irish also believe that their citizens have a right to a say in what happens in the European Community.
With a simple referendum, the Irish have prevented yet another abuse of power by the jobsworths that have been put in charge of the fate of millions of people. Instead of simply acting like a rubber-stamp-wielding clerk, the Irish government has struck a blow for us by refusing to accept the Lisbon Treaty.
The British government, as they always do when given a chance to kiss the backside of the European Parliament, accepted the treaty without reservation - on behalf of the British public who did not (and still do not) know what the Lisbon Treaty is all about.
It is a fairly safe bet that very few, if any, British politicians have actually read the treaty, let lone understand it - so what does that say about their concern for the welfare of Britain?
Apparently the EU politicians are 'stunned' by the Irish vote. This happens when bullies are suddenly faced with a turning worm - they get lost for a suitable response and have to resort to posturing and bluster.
The response of one EU politician was to say "We have to give a signal that we are willing to take action on the real concerns of our citizens."
Excuse me?
What in the name of God is a "signal". Isn't it their job, NOT to give signals, but to DO things to answer the concerns of their citizens? Isn't THAT why they are there?
Let's read the quote again:-
"We have to give a signal that we are willing to take action on the real concerns of our citizens"
Doesn't that tell you all you need to know about the priorities of the non-elected boys in charge?
It's like a Nintendo game to them!
As long as they collect their horrendous pay and expenses and swan around at public expense, they are so busy being 'important' that the very idea of actually doing anything is anathema to them.
Let the bureaucrats create treaties, let the nominal governments of member states ratify them and let's call it work - and while we're at it, we'll go to the next level..
What sort of a life philosophy is that?
