Part 1: The Subtle Change

Its eight o’clock in the morning and the shuffling of shoes simmers down as everyone takes a seat and walks their eyes to the message board. Scribbling their thoughts across the sheets of their journal, students answer the morning message as their teacher sets down each one’s work plan near their folders. A couple students whisper to each other – discussing his or her answers and elaborating on their ideas. One at a time they approach the teacher, journal in-hand for review, before settling once again to look over the goals they need to meet for each subject this particular week.
